Before you plunge into the depths of this chapter and the next, it is important to first understand why this content is so significant. Over the next few pages, I describe a specific set of beliefs and formal methods that make knowledge management possible. These knowledge management beliefs and processes, or KMBPs, are what give substance to the KM discussion in your organization and will keep the topic from being dismissed as irrelevant or academic.
