Introduction

I’m going to start with a story. Not because this book isn’t one big story (loosely defined, of course) but because, in simple terms, it outlines one of the reasons why I’m writing this book.

As I’m writing this in the comfort of my home office, it’s June 2022, and an uncharacteristic warm day for England. In fact, so much so that “experts” have put out a newsworthy heat warning (because let’s face it, anything over a mere 25 degrees centigrade in this country is unpalatable). A contrast, dare I say to last week, where I found myself seated around a table of Executives discussing organizational strategy, in blistery Glasgow.
