What is motivation? We typically define it as consisting of the drives that move us to do what we do. We have lots of drives. For example, if we’re sitting around watching TV, our drives at that moment are for relaxation and entertainment. Our drives emanate from biological necessities, such as hunger and the desire to reproduce, and psychological needs, such as the need to feel acknowledged and valued by others and to accomplish worthwhile things in our lives.
