The social dynamic of ESG is the easiest to relate to and has the longest history. Social and employment legislation has progressed in the past half century and moved right across the planet, but especially in the western world and in those places where the International Labour Organization (“ILO” founded in 1919, and the oldest specialist advocacy organization of the United Nations) has secured real traction. In Britain, the Health and Safety at Work Act of 1974 was a landmark legislative achievement, as was the Modern Slavery Act of 2015.
