This chapter adds detail and context to the high-level “environment” roadmap in Appendix 7.
In common with the other places in this book, stage E0 (not cited below, where we begin at E1) indicates that there will have been—and continues to be—a thorough-going business context appreciation and ongoing review. In turn, these lead to effective business strategy development and associated detailed business plans. A soundly run organization and an effective senior manager will have a good grip on the overall business environment and how their own organization interacts within its business sector and how it relates to other business sectors.
