Abstract:
Diamond-coated cutting tools have been utilized as a cost-effective alternative to brazed polycrystalline diamond tools in applications such as machining lightweight high-strength materials (e.g. metal matrix composites). However, coating delamination is a major failure mode of diamond-coated tools, terminating tool life prematurely.
