Disk First Aid
Disk First Aid is a utility that enables you to check for and repair minor directory damage on your hard disk caused by bad media, crashes, improper shutdowns, and other problems.
Tip
It's a good idea to use Disk First Aid to verify all your important disks on a regular basis—at least once a month.
To verify or repair a disk

Open the Disk First Aid icon, which can be found in the Utilities folder (Figure 53) in the Applications (Mac OS 9) folder. The Disk First Aid window appears ( Figure 54) . It displays all mounted disks and provides information about what it does.
