Mounting Disks

You mount a disk by inserting it in the disk drive so it appears on the Mac OS Desktop.

Tip

You must mount a disk to use it.

Tip

If you cannot successfully mount a CD-ROM disc or Zip disk by following these instructions, check to be sure the appropriate driver software has been installed and loaded. I tell you about driver software in Chapter 14.

To mount a floppy disk

Insert the disk in the floppy disk drive, label side up, metal side in. The disk's icon appears on the Desktop (Figure 61).
