Memory
The Memory control panel (Figure 53) enables you to set options that determine how RAM is used in your computer. On most computers, it controls the following three options:

Disk cache is RAM set aside for storage of frequently used computer instructions. The recommended disk cache setting is 32 kilobytes (K) of cache for each megabyte of installed RAM.
Virtual memory is hard disk space used as RAM. For efficient performance on a computer with a PowerPC processor, virtual memory should be turned on and set to default settings.
