Desktop Printers
When you use the Chooser to select and set up a printer, Mac OS automatically creates a desktop printer for it. As the name suggests, it appears on the desktop as a printer driver icon (Figure 64).

Desktop printers can be used for a number of things:
Identify and change the default printer.
Print documents using drag and drop.
Check or change items in a print queue.
Stop or start a print queue.
