Of all the things I write about in this book, nothing, simply nothing, is more important than the crew of individuals that are steering your ship. A few motivated volunteers can navigate through the stormiest of seas but one Jonah can sink the entire ship. I have learned, the hardest ways, that although your station must be open to the community, it must be protective of itself.

Remember As you recruit new members, as important as it is to seek talent in hidden places, it is equally important to get to know your volunteers before letting them in too deep. You see, an FM frequency is a powerful thing. It is a great responsibility and you must be able to hold on to it without letting it drive you mad.
