Oslo Public Library: digital efforts
Abstract:
This chapter reviews the history of Oslo Public Library (Deichmanske bibliotek), the first public library in Oslo. A comparison is made between its funding system during its first 92 years and that of early public libraries in the United States. Also discussed are a number of early digital projects, the system-wide digital reference service, and innovations in the management of the library’s Music Department.
