Introduction

Laser technology has been increasing ever since its introduction in the 1960s. This text concerns itself with laser safety, so let us ask the question: Are laser accidents happening, and do we have bodies to count? The simple answer is yes, laser accidents are occurring, and the number is uncertain. One survey of laser accident database demonstrated that more than 1500 cases were registered between 1960 and 2002. The majority of the accidents involves eye injury, approximately more than 70%.
