Let’s acknowledge the elephant in the room right away. Many people think that high-dynamic-range (HDR) photography is gimmicky and not appropriate for traditional landscape photography. I acknowledge that HDR can be gimmicky, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s possible to do HDR landscapes that are totally real and accurate. I believe HDR can be a very important tool for all landscape photographers. And whether or not you know what HDR is all about, this chapter will help you understand and use it.
