Elements of Biochemistry

2.1    INTRODUCTION

Biochemistry in its core is the chemical study of living beings, a strongly multidisciplinary study in which chemistry, biology, medicine, and abstract modeling converge in a unitary body of knowledge. Perhaps, the most important outcomes of biochemical research have been the realization that all organisms have much in common. Organisms are remarkably uniform at the molecular level. This observation is frequently referred to as the unity of biochemistry, but, in reality, it illustrates the unity of life.
