Using Representation
As I complete this survey of ways to represent knowledge, I want to suggest some general lessons for the study of the mind. In this book, I did not advocate a particular type of representation as the way that information is stored. Indeed, it should be obvious by now that there is much debate over how to think about knowledge representation in explanations of the range of behaviors that people exhibit. Instead, my point was to introduce a variety of formats for thinking about representation. Every format has produced insights about how human cognition works, and all of them are likely to be the source of future insights.
