14 Knowledge Management through Artificial Intelligence and other Emergent Technologies
In this chapter, we review artificial intelligence and explain how it facilitates knowledge management (KM) processes. As noted in Chapters 2 and 4, the collective knowledge of organizations resides in knowledge reservoirs and through the KM process this knowledge is discovered, captured, shared, and applied to improve operational efficiency and core competencies. Organizational knowledge is embedded in people, organizational artefacts, and organizational units. The focus of this chapter is to explain how AI enables KM processes to uncover hidden knowledge, and capture and transfer that knowledge for application.
