14 Linking Measures, Goals, and Plans

When I turned 30, I started thinking more about my health and overall fitness level, so I decided to get some base-line data on how unhealthy I was. I never exercised, had a terrible diet, smoked, and got winded climbing a few flights of stairs. I didn’t look fat, but my waist was only about 4 inches smaller than my chest. I went to a doctor as well as a personal fitness trainer and got a base-line assessment of a number of key measures of my health:

  • Blood chemistry: cholesterol, glucose, and so on.
  • Heart rate.
  • Blood pressure.
  • Respiration.
  • Body fat percentage.
  • Weight.
  • Measurements.
  • Strength.
  • Flexibility.
