Chapter 7
Managing Your Network with Junos OS
In This Chapter
- Choosing an interface to manage your network
- Accessing your device for management services
- Setting up standard-based SNMP management
- Using system logging to monitor a device
- Using trace logging to monitor a device
Imagine that you've spent a lot of time getting your Junos OS device up and running and part of a larger network, and now you want to take a break. However, before you can take that break and “safely” leave your device, you must set it up so that you can access and manage it remotely.
This chapter describes how to access the device remotely, explaining everything from the physical interface to the different monitoring tools. You pick a management interface, access the device, set up management with SNMP, and come up with a more complete scheme for system logging.
Note: Before continuing, if you need a refresher on the basics for enhancing the initial configuration of the Junos OS and working with the management interface, basic logging events, and tracing, please refer to Chapter 6.
