Blockchain and Its Relevance for the Metaverse

Blockchain is a concept to define a distributed database in which data is stored in blocks, instead of structured tables of conventional databases. The new data stored in the database is filled into new blocks, which are linked to previous blocks, forming a block chain. In a blockchain database, data is thus stored in chronological order, and data in existing blocks cannot be changed.
