Chapter 4. Model MBeans
Introduction
Creating instrumentation with MBeans from scratch can be time-consuming and tedious. The JMX model MBean specification[1] provides generic instrumentation that can be quickly customized for many resources. This chapter describes the model MBean in detail and provides multiple examples of its use in practice.
A model MBean is a fully customizable dynamic MBean. The RequiredModelMBean
class, which implements the ModelMBean
interface, is guaranteed to exist on every JMX agent. A model MBean implements the ModelMBean
interface that extends a set of interfaces including DynamicMBean
, PersistentMBean
, and ModelMBeanNotificationBroadcaster
