iPhone and iPad data security

Apple devices are starting to become more widely known for their ability to the protect user data. Both the iPad and recent models of the iPhone (3G(s), iPhone 4, and iPod Touch) provide hardware encryption for all data stored on the device as well as data transmitted over the network. On the iPad in particular, this encryption is enabled by default and cannot be removed by the user.
