IoT is part of the cyber-physical world of systems that are often complex and involve risk. As systems and software have grown in usage, the need for architectures has increased. Examples of these systems include the ideas of “smart” cities and even “smart” houses where numerous IoT devices, computers, and edge and cloud systems interact with each other, often in unexpected ways, both good and bad (failures).
