Introduction

Sensors are devices that detect motion, temperature changes, wind velocity, and other indoor and outdoor environmental changes in order to sound an alert, log an event, or trigger a device. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a form of sensing system, in that it polls several signal sources to pinpoint the location of a device. But there are now sensors that can provide location information that don’t rely on satellites for the positioning data.
