Reviews of Applications
Abstract
This chapter presents background, analysis, and experimental results on six different applications of plasma dynamics principles. Specifically, reviews of energy conversion, space thrusters, plasma wave heating, magnetic compression and heating, magnetic fusion plasma, and space plasma dynamics are presented. In each of these areas, directed research programs have been carried out with notable success. Fundamental principles, identification of key problems, important advances, and existing challenges are discussed.
