National Electrical Code and Performance PV Design
THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE (NEC) sets rules at the national level. These rules protect property, technicians, inspectors, and owners. Even though local agencies also set regulations, the NEC is the basis for almost all of their standards.
The NEC has 52 editions going back to 1897. Photovoltaics (PV) are fairly new to the NEC. The NEC guidelines for PV systems are still evolving. The NEC addresses many design and installation aspects of PV systems in Article 690 and elsewhere.
