Introduction

There is a wide diversity of journalistic practice, from local and regional newspapers to national titles, from ‘fanzine’ magazines to specialist publications, from campus radio stations to local and national radio stations and from community television stations to national and satellite broadcasters. Therefore the following information, whilst reflecting this diversity, is primarily aimed at the aspiring or working journalist in local and regional newspapers, magazines, radio and television, but not strictly to the exclusion of other areas of journalistic interest. ...
