This compendium will help illustrate the broad range of possibilities available for the designer of distance learning. In addition to the standard types of activities we have already talked about—identification, ordering, multiple-choice, and psychomotor simulations—I have added three other major kinds of exercises. These are Interruptive exercises that happen when you stop the action and do something; Pathfinding exercises; and Database Usage exercises. Pathfinding requires that learners find their way through a labyrinth of interactive branches or a series of events.
