Let’s pretend that you are a first-grade elementary school teacher. You have thirty-one kids in your class. It’s Monday morning, and it’s raining. I mean really raining, coming down in buckets. The time is 8:15 a.m., and here come the buses full of children. You go into the hallway to meet the kids and take off thirty-one pairs of boots and thirty-one raincoats. You put the boots away, hang up the raincoats, and send your students into your classroom. Class begins.
