Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of the unified modeling language (UML), then covers the following topics in detail: class diagrams; object orientation; identification schemes; attributes; associations; set-comparison constraints; subtyping; other constraints; and derivation rules. It then provides a procedure for mapping object-role modeling schemas to UML class diagrams.
