Tagging
Abstract:
Since 2003 tagging has become very popular. When studies on tagging originally wanted to point out to a new phenomenon on the web, they now try to compare it to more traditional forms of indexing and to create a taxonomy of it. Tagging has various advantages and disadvantages. Libraries have taken different initiatives to incorporate it into their catalogues: they offer the possibility to their patrons to tag the books they retrieve or they link to already tagged books on LibraryThing. Tags can be displayed in many forms, but tags clouds may be the most popular display at this moment.
