The overall organization of a transmedia project is inextricably linked to the goal and nature of the project, which also relate to the pertinent revenue and funding models. As outlined earlier, most projects generally fall into either the commercial or the artistic category. Commercial transmedia projects rely on generating revenue through some type of sales, or on the basis of subscription to a service. Alternately, if they are merely transmedia marketing projects—like an advertising campaign—a brand or company can pay for them.
