Adaptive Polynomial Image Interpolation

3.1 Introduction

Although polynomial techniques for image interpolation are the most popular methods due to their simplicity, they do not take into consideration the local activity levels of the image to be interpolated. It could be feasible if the interpolation formula of each technique is adapted from pixel to pixel to accommodate for the varying local activity levels. This adaptation reduces the blurring effect resulting from the interpolation, giving better visual quality.
