STAGE SCENERY CREATES an environment where incredible stories are brought to life. In the past, most scenery was just painted backdrops and other flat surfaces, but modern scenery is much more three-dimensional and sets are works of art in their own right. They are, for the most part, large-scale sculptures. Whole worlds are created from carefully chosen piles of raw materials. This chapter focuses on materials commonly used in the art of fabrication.
