THIS SUBJECT IS so huge that stand-alone books have been written about it. One of our favorites is Monona Rossol’s The Health and Safety Guide for Film, TV, and Theatre. So, if you have a great deal of interest in the topic and want to read more about it, that would be a great place to start. This chapter scratches the surface of safety and the use of personal protective equipment on the stage and in the shop, but in no way is it comprehensive. An entire field called industrial hygiene has been formed around the study of industrial safety.
