Chapter 3. e-business infrastructure management
Infrastructure management is a vital component of any successful e-business solution. At a high level, infrastructure management comprises four areas:
Performance and availability management
Configuration and operations management
Storage management
Security management
Each of these could be applied to both systems and networks. This chapter describes this in detail, and the technology behind IBM e-business solutions in these areas. A brief introduction to the Common Information Model (CIM) used by systems management software to obtain management data is also provided.
