Introduction and History

Cyrus, who is known as the founder of the Achaemenid Empire during the building of the Jerusalem temple in 538 BC (Schmitt 1983), used to encourage his construction workers by giving them a pat on the back or a beverage or a coin on which was ingrained a representation of his head, to keep them motivated and show that he recognized their contribution and worth.
