Let's start with a simple experiment. Now if you're reading this book in a crowded place, perhaps on a train or in a cafe, you might just want to do the following exercise in a subtle, understated way.

Here goes.
Simply stretch out both hands in front of you, with your fingers pointing forwards. Now, clasp your hands together so that one thumb is on top of the other.
Now take a look at which thumb is on top: your right or your left?
If it's your right thumb then you're like me.
And you may have read recently that research suggests people who have their right thumb on top are usually more intelligent than their left thumb counterparts.
