What’s the difference between a problem and a breakdown? Well, if you think of a problem or a challenge as a speed bump in the road, then you should think of a breakdown as a roadblock, something preventing you from going any farther. You’re at a complete standstill. It seems as if there is nowhere for you to turn, and you are stuck.

For instance, if you wanted a promotion at work and someone else from your department was named to the position ahead of you, that’s a breakdown. If you fight with your spouse every single time you bring up your child’s college education, that’s a breakdown.
