13 Start Them Off Strong
If you have made the right selection, the new person will be ready, willing, and eager to start her new job. Psychologically, she will be looking forward to doing something productive and becoming both useful and important as quickly as possible. What you do on the first day will have an effect on her attitude for many weeks and months into the future.
The key is to start her off with lots of work to do. People love to be busy and never so much as when they are nervous and unsure at the beginning of a new job. A full workload from the first day makes the job challenging and exciting.
