ARRA, HITECH, and incentives programs supporting the meaningful use of EHRs are helping the healthcare industry make a paradigm shift in care delivery through the accelerated use of healthcare IT. CMS, ONC, and its HIT Policy and Standards Committees are driving communications at the industry level to provide all stakeholders with a common set of rules to follow for selecting, designing, implementing, and adopting EHRs.
