Installing Audacity as a digital audio editor (optional)

We won't be handling audio until Chapter 5, Audio Generation with NSynth and GANSynth, so you can wait until that chapter to install Audacity. Audacity is an amazing open source cross-platform (Windows, Linux, macOS) software for editor audio clips. It doesn't have the functionality of a Digital Audio Workstation (see the Installing a Digital Audio Workstation section for more on this), but it is easy to use and powerful.

Audacity can be used to easily record audio, cut and split audio clips, add simple effects, do simple equalization, and export various formats:
