Maintenance Cleanup Task
While the History Cleanup task clears the stale data such as backup and restore activities or job histories from the tables in the msdb database, the Maintenance Cleanup task deletes database backup files or Maintenance Plan text reports files based on the time period specified.
Here are the steps you take to configure this task:
1. | In the user interface, specify a connection to the server. You can create a new connection by clicking the New button and specifying a name to the connection, and then specifying the database server to which you want to connect using Windows or SQL Server user authentication. This task uses the ADO.Net (SqlClient Data Provider) Connection Manager to connect to the SQL Server. |
