When, some ten years ago, or more, David Samuelson casually mentioned to me that he had begun writing an in-depth, “hands-on” manual for cinematographers, I had no doubt that the finished product would be something quite special, for he was already the published author of several widely acclaimed books on various aspects of cinematography.
