Streaming Video with Flash Media Server
As you’ve already learned, Flash Media Server is currently the only solution that can stream Flash video content to connected clients. There are several advantages of using Flash Media Server over a progressive download approach, some of which include:
• Bandwidth efficiency – The video is served as needed by the remote viewer, minimizing wasted bandwidth if the viewer clicks off before the end of the video
• Fast start-up – An initial small buffer can provide fast video start-up and the buffer can be increased during playback
• Advanced seeking capabilities – Users can navigate to any part of the video at any time, without having to wait for a download, which is well suited for long files ...
