Abstract
The basics of highly efficient, organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) based on small molecules are discussed. All factors influencing OLED efficiency are explained and the benefits of pin-type OLEDs are discussed. It is shown how the pin concept can be used to realize highly efficient monochrome and white OLEDs. An extensive list summarizing the current state-of-the-art in emitter material systems for these devices is provided. The analysis of light modes in OLEDs is discussed in detail and experimental methods to enhance the outcoupling efficiency are introduced. Finally, a short overview on the different microscopic ...
