Abstract
This chapter essentially consists of an explanation of Specifications writing—Types (e.g., closed or prescriptive specifications and open specifications) and the impact that new technologies are having on specification production. Specifications are necessary and are intended to complement production drawings. The principal objectives of specification writing are explained and how green building specifications can be incorporated into Construction Specifications Institute MasterFormat.
