FOREWORD

During the winter of 2008-2009 I wrote Green Energy, a book which looked at the energy technologies that could meet the growing energy demands of a world which was then obsessed with the concept of Global Warming and Climate Change. It was published in November 2009, a few weeks before the International Conference on Climate Change in Copenhagen, which was intended to plot a path towards setting up a global standard of carbon dioxide emissions.

In the event the conference was judged a failure and it was ironic that on the last day of the meeting snow fell in Denmark, and over much of Northern Europe, which was so unusual that, to the general public, it somewhat gave the lie to global warming. December 2010 again saw heavier snowfall ...
