When you learn to play the guitar, you have to learn scales, chords, chord changes, strumming patterns, and fingerpicking. You build these skills (and others) so that when they’re combined, you can play songs and, eventually, use what you know to make your own music.

If you’ve gone through the Build Skills section of this book, you’ve put in quite a bit of practice. Now you’ll play some songs and, finally, make your own music.
