THE STRUGGLE OF STYLE AND CONTENT
With the ascent of the voice of the writer there is an aggressive search for a form to present the story that will not undermine voice but rather enhance it. In the last chapter we explored the search for forms that would mask voice. In this chapter we look at the use of style to highlight voice. The result very often is a struggle between the style of the film and its content. This is not an entirely new phenomenon, although it's very pronounced in today's more internationalized setting.
